Minimising
plastics waste: Is bioplastics the answer?
The plastics industry is doing its bit to help nurture a greener
earth, by making breakthroughs in bioplastics. Bioplastics
- polymers processed from different green sources - are slowly
and steadily emerging as a sustainable solution for an earth
suffocating due to toxic greenhouse gases. The plastics industry
has already begun presenting products manufactured from non-edible
sources. However, the question that arises here is whether
bioplastics is the solution to earth’s ecological problems
or not? Ranjit Pisharody interacts with some industry experts
in his quest to solve this puzzle.
